The Vertiv™ Avocent® MergePoint Unity KVM over IP and Serial Console Switch combines analog and digital technology to provide flexible, centralized control of data center servers and virtual media. The IP-based system facilitates the operation, activation and maintenance of remote branch offices where trained operators may be unavailable, delivering flexible management of connected devices and secure remote access from anywhere at any time. The Avocent MergePoint Unity KVM over IP and Serial Console Switch offers the following features and options:
Users can access the Vertiv Avocent MergePoint Unity via a standard TCP/IP network. Operational right out of the box, servers or clients attached to the Avocent MergePoint Unity require no special software or drivers to assess server status and restore connectivity. Management through Vertiv™ Avocent® DSView software allows a single interface for all switches.
The Avocent MergePoint Unity provides multiple connection or control points to remote IT equipment, enabling streamlined response to and diagnosis of root causes, thus improving resolution time for OS or network connectivity issues. Out-of-band KVM and serial access enables an operator to transfer data or load a new application or OS even if the network connection is lost.
The Avocent MergePoint Unity KVM over IP and Serial Console Switch meets sophisticated security requirements, including those for FIPS 140-2. Using its virtual media capabilities, a smart card/CAC reader can be mapped from a desktop PC to quickly and securely authenticate and access a remote server.
With server densities continually increasing, cable management remains a major concern for network administrators. The Avocent MergePoint Unity significantly reduces cable volume in the rack by utilizing the innovative IQ module and single, industry standard Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cabling. This provides better airflow and thermal management in high-density racks.
The Avocent MergePoint Unity KVM over IP and Serial Console Switch keeps troubleshooting and remediation simple. There is no need to bring a laptop and serial cable into the data center to access the configuration port of a network router or switch that is off-line. KVM access can be achieved locally within the data center, or remotely from anywhere.
Retail stores, healthcare facilities, school districts, government offices, bank branches and other edge deployments need centralized management. The Avocent MergePoint Unity provides flexible, centralized control of servers and virtual media, and facilitates the operation, activation and maintenance of remote office IT systems where trained operators may be unavailable.
