Enhanced Hardware and File System
The TeraStation 5020 NAS is a secure, all-inclusive turnkey data storage and file server solution designed to optimize file operations for any business environment.
With pre-tested NAS-grade hard drives included (Enterprise-grade hard drives included for TS51220RH models) and RAID pre-configured, you get out-of-the-box reliability and data protection. The TS5020 also features high storage capacity and Btrfs file system to handle heavy data workloads.
Optimize and Expand Your Storage
This product family is VMware Certified for iSCSI. For organizations with existing physical server infrastructures, integration with a Buffalo iSCSI-SAN is simple, cost-effective, and efficient way to provide expansive storage.
iSCSI enables server expansion with no specialized equipment and staff required, allowing you to use your existing hardware without regards to brands, saving you maintenance and overhead costs.
Fast Transfer Speeds with Native 10GbE
Multi-gigabit Ethernet can increase network performance to enable faster data transfer speeds. The TeraStation 5020 NAS with a native 10GbE port is perfect for those who are ready to commit to high-level, multi-gigabit data transfers. By using the same Cat5e cables that are already widely-installed around the office, you can enjoy notably faster network speeds within your network environment at much lower costs.
Robust Data Protection
The TeraStation 5020 Network Attached Storage is Buffalo’s most secure NAS system yet. It runs on a closed system, with not even the system administrator having root rights. Most competitors’ devices allow third party apps to be installed via an app store, which is a possible vector for malware and other cyberthreats. The closed system on the TeraStation NAS bypasses third party apps and the potential vulnerabilities from them to keep the NAS server safe.
Additional protection features include 256-bit AES encryption for the drives, preventing them from being read on another device if they are removed, and encrypted file transfers so you can access and share data securely, as well as physical security features to further protect your data.
Enhanced Login Security
The TeraStation 5020 utilizes two-factor authentication (2FA) to add a key layer of login security to ensure that only authorized users can access the NAS. When enabled, users logging in to the TeraStation will also need to enter a verification code along with their username and password.
This extra layer of protection helps secure data on your NAS against hackers and ransomware. 2FA can significantly improve data security for your NAS, as it ensures that your login information cannot be easily compromised by threat actors, especially if you are logging in remotely.
Snapshot Technology for Optimized Data Backup
The TeraStation 5020 utilizes snapshots to quickly save and recover data. A snapshot is essentially a copy of the system data at a given point in time. When needed, you can restore to that point using a snapshot. No matter if a file was accidentally deleted due to user error or a storage volume is locked by ransomware, you can simply revert files and folders to the previously-saved state when the snapshot was created.
Snapshots can be created manually or automatically, and can be restored from near instantaneously. Snapshots also take up less space than backup data, allowing you to create a library of granulated restore points for easy file versioning. No matter if it’s a week ago or an hour ago, you can quickly restore a lost or compromised file and be on your way.
Certified Storage for Virtualization
Leverage the benefits of virtualization with the TeraStation 5020. Certified for VMware® and Microsoft® Hyper-V®, the TeraStation 5020 can back up your virtual environments with a highly-reliable storage solution.
Enable fast deployment and integration into Microsoft and VMware virtual environments and improve working efficiency with increased virtual application performance and greater flexibility in storage capacity planning and allocation, You can also back up virtual machines to the TeraStation to protect your environment from hardware failure.
